Can I stop source analysis?

I am using 7.0.0.0 Alpha. Source analysis terribly slows down my computer and makes my typing not as smoothly as before. I can't bear with my mouse cursor turning into a circle any more when I just get a fresh idea or start wing. I bought my laptop a month ago, so it's performance is usually good when running other applications.

BTW, I still can't get the reason why wing would allocate such huge resources to source analysis. Most of time it doesn't help me much, except when it jumps out with a big chunk of parameters to frighten me. I don't need source analysis to remind me the parameters I am familiar with and I can't rely on source analysis to learn new functions as I rely on help().

So, could you please tell me how to turn source analysis off?

Thank you! I was wondering if the licence of Wing 6.1 is still valid on Wing 7.0.0.1 and later?

Any Wing 6.1 license purchased now can be upgraded to a Wing 7 for free.  In general, users can upgrade for free to a new major version for a year after purchase -- see https://wingware.com/store/terms for details.  The current Wing 7 alpha uses evaluation licenses.

Could you submit a bug report from Wing's Help menu and check the check box to include the error-log?  This will send a log to us that will hopefully help with future Wing 7 development.

After submitting the bug report, I suggest you try to use Wing 6.1 rather than the alpha release of Wing 7.  It's a known problem that analysis takes significantly longer in Wing 7 than in Wing 6.1 and is something that we're working on.  The problems and limitations of the alpha release are listed at https://wingware.com/wingide/early

The reason that Wing analyzes code is to help with navigation, provide autocompletion and argument lists, and to warn of possible problems.
