How do I edit hidden files on a mac

Hello I use gitlab and I'm trying to edit the .gilab-ci.yml file and the file is greyed out on the wingide menu popup.

I was able to hit command-shift-period to display it but its grey out.

Even after changing the file type to "All Files (*)" it still does not allow me to click on it.

I'm using Wingide Pro 7.2.2.4.

What do I need to do be able to it this file? Thanks

What macOS version is this? I've seen it leave things greyed out but can still click on them and open them. One possible work-around is to use Open From Keyboard in the File menu, which does not use the native file selection dialog but instead opens using an entry area at the bottom of the screen.

I see the same behavior when trying to add .gitignore using 'Add an existing file'. The file is greyed out and cannot be selected.

OS = macOS Catalina 10.15.6 WingPro 7.2.2.12

This is a good workaround to open a hidden file like .gitignore in the editor, and then also add it to the project:

  1. Use Open from Keyboard in the File menu
  2. Use Add Current File in the Project menu
